Sustainability is inherent to TruTeam’s insulation business. We install innovative products made by suppliers who are focused on improving sustainability in manufacturing and product outcomes, improving the larger industry’s decarbonization goals.
At TruTeam our installers take pride in installing insulation products that lead to lower GHG emissions, reduced heating and cooling costs and improved comfort. From fibrous materials to more sustainable blowing agents in spray foams, insulation materials offer multiple ways to improve efficiency, making them a sustainable solution for consideration by builders, architects, business owners, and homeowners.
Improved best practices for homes and businesses, depending on climate, may combine thermal products with air barriers, helping minimize air leakage transfer from inside to outside the home or from the exterior to the interior, thus minimizing energy usage and reducing GHG emissions.
A negative CO₂ footprint can be achieved. Reduces Carbon Emissions that contribute to Global Warming.
Organic (Plant-based) Recycled with high percentage of recycled material content helps lower carbon emissions by recycling waste paper.
Reductions in heating and cooling costs through reduced air infiltration.
Reductions in sound power and reduction of air infiltration typically require fire and fungicide treatment (usually non-hazardous chemicals).
Energy Star Certified Formaldehyde Free Reduces hot spots helping to equalize temperatures.
A negative CO₂ footprint can be achieved. Reduces Carbon Emissions that contribute to Global Warming.
Organic (Plant-Based)
Reduces air infiltration, helping to conserve energy.
Vapor Open – creating a healthy indoor environment. Requires a fire and waterproof treatment (can contain chemical fire retardant).
Free of Plastics, Formaldehyde, and other Toxins.
An energy-efficient, green, sustainable solution with a lower CO₂ footprint. Fiberglass slows the spread of heat and cold and can help reduce energy costs.
Inorganic Minerals – utilizing higher percentages of recyclable products. It uses lower amounts of energy to produce.
New plant-based binders reduce energy consumption during manufacturing.
A natural fire retardant but less effective against air leaks and moisture. It can be combined with a poly barrier during installation.
Long lasting, does not break down, holds up to UV, heat and wind. Energy Star Rating, used in LEED and Green Global Ratings.
Moderate CO₂ footprint with high R-values. It helps with energy conservation, helping to reduce a building’s carbon footprint.
Inorganic Minerals – utilizing recycled products.
Uses waste from other industries as alternative raw materials.
High fire resistance and sound absorbent acoustic comfort. Resists mold, fungi, and bacteria growth—water repellent, yet vapor permeable.
Non-corrosive, will not degrade pipes and wires, dimensionally stable, robust product with lower cost.
Open Cell foam has a lower CO₂ footprint with a high R-value. Closed cell foam has a moderate carbon footprint with a high r-value.
Organic synthetic (oil-derived cellular material).
Performs as an insulation air barrier, minimizes air infiltration.
Minimizes airborne sound transmissions. Seals a building to air leaks, preventing drafts, and minimizing pollen, dust, and insects.
Adds strength and resilience to building structure.
Lower CO₂ footprint with high R-value. Energy efficient continuous insulation solution for the entire building envelope.
Organic Synthetic (oil-derived cellular material. It contains blowing agents with zero ODP and low GWP. Recyclable through reuse and contains recycled content.
Reduces building energy use and associated greenhouse gas emissions.
Inherent fire resistance to chemical bonds.
Reduces thermal bridges in roofs and walls (when compared to cavity insulation). Easy to use, lightweight, and regionally available.
Lower CO₂ footprint with high R-value.
Organic Synthetic (oil-derived cellular material. Recyclable through reuse.
It is fully recyclable and does not contain HCFCs that compromise the environment. Contains no dyes, and can contain recycled content.
In below-grade applications, moisture should be channeled away from the product with surface drainage and rain tiles.
Laminated poly facer enhances durability and impact resistance.
High R-value with reduced CO₂ levels leads to energy savings, but still has a moderate to higher footprint.
Organic Synthetic (oil-derived cellular material. Recyclable through reuse.
Closed-cell structure of XPS provides very high values of thermal resistance, helping save energy costs.
Moisture resistance, install with an approved fire barrier.
Durable
Buildings are responsible for nearly 40 percent of global energy-related greenhouse gas emissions (GHG)*. However, insulation, when properly installed, can help reduce energy demand and the resulting emissions over the full lifecycle of any structure by up to 50 percent. In fact, the Natural Resources Defense Council has called energy efficiency in homes alone the single largest intervention to tackle GHG emissions in the U.S.** This energy efficiency can be achieved through various measures, including improved insulation.
We remain dedicated to supporting our customers in achieving their sustainability goals through our energy-efficient products, delivered through our in-class installation service.
TruTeam will continue building a curated selection of products and services to help our customers achieve their sustainability and ESG goals. Through evaluating, testing, and tailoring a state of both existing and new products without supply partners, we can help our customers better translate sustainability intention to in-market execution.
Many of our long-standing product suppliers are committed to improving environmental impacts by expanding energy efficiency and reducing the carbon impact of insulated buildings. We install products with energy efficiency and emission reductions, which help to improve home and business comfort, air quality, and net environmental benefits.
TruTeam’s multi-faceted approach to building and maintaining product knowledge across the spectrum of installation alternatives helps us stay informed of emerging trends. We are ready to bring new materials or installation services to market, delivering customer value and positive environmental impact.
